Advanced ultrafiltration system set sail for Peru

On June 6, 2025, XJY's independently developed 1000LPH hollow fiber ultrafiltration equipment has completed the first batch of orders. The equipment has been shipped from Shekou Port and is expected to arrive at Callao Port in the near future. This batch of equipment will be used in the industrial Wastewater Treatment project of a copper mine in Arequipa Province, Peru, to solve the problem of high suspended matter and heavy metal residual wastewater.

Ultrafiltration system tackles the pain points of mining wastewater

The Arequipa Copper Mine is located in the Andes Mountains, and its production wastewater contains high concentrations of suspended particles, colloidal substances and trace heavy metals. The 1000LPH ultrafiltration system delivered this time uses XJY patented anti-pollution PVDF membrane technology (membrane pore size 0.03 microns), which has:

 

High-strength chemical corrosion resistance - resistant to pH fluctuations and mining agent residues

Three-stage pulse recoil technology - to deal with high turbidity wastewater (raw water NTU≤500)

The system can efficiently intercept 97%+ suspended matter and colloidal pollutants, and the water production SDI≤3, providing stable pretreatment guarantee for subsequent reverse osmosis Desalination and heavy metal deep treatment, and achieving a wastewater reuse rate of ≥85%.

Creating triple value of ultrafiltration system

Judy, head of XJY business, said, "The copper mine wastewater contains high concentrations of sulfate and suspended solids. Traditional organic membranes are prone to clogging, while our ceramic composite membrane has improved its anti-pollution performance by 40%, fully meeting the stringent requirements of the Peruvian National Environmental Assessment and Supervision Agency (OEFA)."

Resource recycling - about 24 tons of clean water are recycled daily for equipment cooling and dust suppression in the mine area

Constructing a mining circular economy ultrafiltration system

This project adopts a three-stage treatment process of "multi-media filtration + ultrafiltration + reverse osmosis". The reuse rate of treated reclaimed water reaches 99%, saving more than 1 million tons of fresh water annually, directly reducing the company's water cost by more than 30%. The equipment also integrates a tailings water recovery module, which can increase the recovery rate of valuable metals in mineral processing wastewater to 95%, realizing resource recycling.

"Our technical solution has been successfully applied in the Escondida copper mine in Chile, and the treated water quality fully meets the needs of underground spraying and equipment cooling." Zhang Gong added, "For the high-altitude environment in Peru (the project site is 4,200 meters above sea level), we have specially optimized the antifreeze performance and pressure compensation system of the membrane module to ensure that the equipment can operate stably under a temperature difference of -10℃ to 40℃."

Deepening the Latin American ultrafiltration system market

The equipment delivered by XJY this time has passed the EU CE certification and the technical filing of the Ministry of Mines of Peru (MINEM). The PVDF composite membrane material developed has a bisphenol A residue of less than 50ppm and can be widely used in high-end fields such as biomedicine and electronic semiconductors.

 

With the advancement of the "Peru Mining Sustainable Development Strategy (2025-2030)", the country plans to increase the mining wastewater reuse rate to 95% by 2030, directly driving the growth of ultrafiltration equipment demand. The 1000LPH equipment delivered by XJY this time is a benchmark project in response to this strategy.
